My Sexy Saturday: In which Aleema reveals a secret
This week’s theme for My Sexy Saturday, in which we share 7 words, sentences or paragraphs of one of our works, is “Sexy in History“. It’s primarily a shout-out for historical romance, so for a few minutes I scratched my head. I’ve never written historicals, except for a few short stories (two of which involved vampires). My latest book, (Chronicles of the Malcolm 3) is a science fiction romance–not exactly chock full of knights in armor or dukes in ballrooms
Then I thought outside the box. There’s still history in the Chronicles of the Malcolm version of the 26th century. Just because some of it hasn’t happened yet in the real world? Minor quibble.
So without further ado, here’s seven sentences, in which Aleema reveals she’s seen a bit of history–more than a human ought to. This part of the book isn’t exactly sexy, but it’s important to letting the characters reach the point of trust where sexy, romantic things can happen.
“Look at me, Buck.” He complied. He even met her eyes and didn’t look away again immediately. “I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, Old Earth in 2388. I was a science officer in the United Nations of Earth spaceforce and stayed on as a civilian xenobiologist after my service was up.”
Buck shook his head. “That would make you…over two hundred years old.”

Blurb:
To save him, she must strip him bare.
Security expert Buck’s senses are inhumanly keen, to the point he can see through time and space, and that’s just the start of his odd abilities—thank you, alien captors. He also experiences paranoia, flashbacks, and the occasional hallucination—thank you, PTSD. No wonder he fears he could hurt one of the Malcolm crewmates he lives to protect, the closest thing to family he has left after the destruction of his home planet.
Brilliant scientist Aleema can teach him how to use his modifications without triggering PTSD. She’s survived the same meddling aliens and suffered even more dramatic alterations. At least her unwanted immortality means she’s had time to figure out how the modifications work and use the knowledge to aid other survivors. Helping Buck means spending some serious time together.
Time enough to fall in love.
Just as happiness seems within their grasp, Aleema realizes one of Buck’s modifications dooms him to an unthinkable future. To save him, she must place herself in the hands of their common enemy and leave Buck to face his worst fears without her.
